FITs: What You Need to Know in Starting a Cardiology Career. Soon you will need to get ready for your boards and plan out your career and financial future. This is a session every FIT should attend. Here, you’ll learn how to get involved at the ACC, what you need to know to pass your boards, how to document and get paid for services you perform, how to select the professional practice that is right for you after your training is over, and more. Dates and times for this event will be posted soon.

All-Chapter Reception. Enjoy food and beverages while you meet chapter and national leadership. Chapters will have tables set up which will provide attendees with an opportunity to discuss local advocacy issues and educational events. FIT Forum: Stimulating Options 2008. You’re in training now, but soon you will have to make decisions that will dramatically affect your career and future happiness. You have options you probably don’t know you have. You need to know what they are and how to evaluate these options to optimize your happiness and the happiness of your family. Clinical Investigator in an Academic Center? Clinician and an Educator in an Academic Medical Center? Clinician and a Clinical Investigator in a Private Practice? These options and their impact on the decisions you will soon need to make will be explained. Time for questions and answers has also been built into the session.

Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease Career Session. You know you want to be a pediatric cardiologist. What do you need to do to reach your goal? This session will focus on tracks and promotion, finding a mentor, interviewing skills, the funded clinical researcher, balancing career and family, and more. Future pediatric cardiologists will find this two hours session one of the best investments of time at ACC.08.
